  • Getting through the hot days

    Dear people of Wörgl, ☀️🌡️

Temperatures are higher than ever — and that puts real strain on our bodies. To help you get through the hot days, we have put together a few tips for you:

💧 Drink enough — ideally water or unsweetened teas. It is better to avoid alcohol and caffeine; during exercise, isotonic drinks are fine. How much is ideal for you depends on your age and any pre-existing conditions — feel free to ask us, especially if your heart or kidneys are affected.

👕 Wear light, loose clothing and avoid the sun, particularly around midday.

🏠 Seek out cool places, move sporting activities to the early morning, air your home at night and keep the windows shaded during the day.

⚠️ Take warning signs seriously: if you feel dizzy or have a headache or nausea, contact the on-call doctors. For severe symptoms such as seizures, confusion or unconsciousness, call the emergency number (144).

Stay healthy and get through the heat well!

  • Skin cancer screening in summer

    Dear people of Wörgl, ☀️🧴

Summer is just around the corner – and with it the loveliest time for the mountains, bathing lakes and sunshine. So that you can enjoy it carefree, a little reminder about skin cancer prevention:

The best protection starts with sun protection. Cream with a high sun protection factor, avoiding the blazing midday sun and stepping out of the sun now and then – that takes the greatest strain off your skin. ☀️

Even so: regular checks matter. 🔍 Keep an eye on moles that change, grow or look irregular – and if in doubt, come and see us one time too many rather than too few.

A skin check can be decisive in an emergency.

We’re happy to be there for you for any questions or a check-up appointment. 💚

  • World Blood Donor Day on 14 June

    Dear patients, 🩸❤️

The 14th of June is World Blood Donor Day – a good moment to remember something that isn’t a given at all: blood cannot be produced artificially. It can only be passed on from one person to another.

In Austria, a unit of blood is needed every 90 seconds – during operations, after accidents, in cancer treatment. A single whole-blood donation is separated into several products and so often helps several people at once.

You may donate if you are healthy, between 18 and 70 years old and weigh at least 50 kg (first donation up to 60). Men may donate up to 4 times a year, women as well as intersex and non-binary people up to 3 times – with at least 8 weeks in between. The donation itself takes only around 30–45 minutes.

A little piece of Austrian medical history on the side: blood groups were discovered in 1901 by the pathologist Karl Landsteiner – in 1930 he received the Nobel Prize for it.

You’ll find appointments and all the details at your nearest Red Cross blood donation service. Perhaps you too will become a lifesaver. 💚

  • It’s official: Familienpraxis Tirol is getting a new home!

    Dear patients,

we have wonderful news for you. From early 2028, we will be moving into new, modern premises right in the heart of Wörgl – and we can’t wait to keep looking after you there.

What does this mean for you?

Noticeably more space, a pleasant indoor climate and considerably more privacy at every visit. Open green areas all around invite you to feel at ease, and there’s nothing left to wish for when it comes to accessibility: excellent public transport links, underground parking right by the building, plus a pharmacy and places to eat just around the corner.

Until then, we’ll of course be here for you as usual. We’re looking to the future with great joy and can hardly wait to welcome you to our new home one day. 🌳

And thank you to you, dear patients – for your trust, your patience and the many lovely moments that made this first year something special.

We have wonderful news for you! 🌿

Dr Laura Riepl will take up a statutory health-insurance position in general medicine at Familienpraxis Tirol this summer.

This ensures that you will continue to receive the familiar medical care you know from us.

One thing matters greatly to us: we want to keep having enough time for each and every one of you. We therefore ask for your understanding that, for now, we can only accept a limited number of new patients. Nothing changes about our location or our approach.

With Dr Marco Schönberger and Dr Laura Riepl, Familienpraxis Tirol remains your trusted point of contact for your health. 💚

We look forward to a shared future with you!

  • World No Tobacco Day — a good moment to pause

Quitting smoking is one of the most powerful decisions you can make for your health – no matter your age and no matter how long you have been smoking. 💪

What happens when you stop? Within just 20 minutes your heart rate returns to normal. After a few weeks your lung function improves noticeably. And after one year your risk of a heart attack has already dropped by half. The body is remarkably good at recovering – it is just waiting for the chance.

We know the path to quitting is not always a straight line. That is why, at Familienpraxis Tirol, we support everyone who wants to stop – with personal advice, proven methods and, if you wish, medication to help. You do not have to do this on your own. 🤝

The best time to quit is always: now.

📅 Feel free to book an appointment – via our homepage or directly here at the practice.
